Security Payment System Update
January 2026
Urgent customer action required
From 1 January 2026, your current saved payment card may no longer work due to an update from our payment provider.
This does not affect you if you pay for your travel pass by Direct Debit
What do I need to do?
- To update your stored card details, please log in to your Swift account.
-
To make sure your top-ups and payments continue without interruption:
1. Scroll down to ‘Payment Details’.
2. Click ‘Change’ on your payment card
3. Add your payment card details
4. If you’re a Swift Go customer, you need to make sure your payment card is selected for Swift Go. - You can check this in ‘payment details’, select ‘manage my payment options’.
-
It only takes a minute, and it ensures your payments continue to process as usual.
-
If you’ve already actioned this, you don’t have to make any further changes.
Your card details are securely stored and protected as always
- Do this by Friday, 26 December, to ensure you can continue to travel.
Why does this need to change?
This change applies to payments made via your Swift account, and payment service providers may require you to authenticate to ensure the payments you make are secure.
When storing card details for future use, you must complete this authentication step at the time of capture. Once this is done, your card will be safely encrypted and ready to use.
What happens next?
When this change takes effect on Thursday, 1 January 2026, payments will be subject to verification checks. This means any stored cards will need to be updated before this time to avoid payment declines and allow you to continue travelling.
You will notice this change across other online retail services you use; many companies may have already told you about it or will do so shortly.
