Birmingham Pride

Birmingham Pride will be making its return to the city centre this year with the event being held over the weekend of Friday 23 to Sunday 25 May.

On Saturday 24 May, the Birmingham Pride Parade will assemble and set off from Centenary Square. 

The parade will then carry on into the LGBTQ+ village in Digbeth where the main festival activities will take place.  

There will be phased road closures through the city centre while the parade takes place which will affect bus services and tram services.

Parade road closures

• Broad Street, Centenary Square
• Carrs Lane
• Moor Street. Priory Queensway to St Martins Queensway 
• St Martins Tunnel for when Moor Street reopens but Tunnel is closed
• Smallbrook Queensway. St Martins Tunnel to Hill Street 
• Hurst Street

Travelling by bus

There will be a number of bus diversions in place throughout the day with some bus stops closed and temporary stops in place.

National Express West Midlands bus services 2, 3, 4, 4A, 5, 6, 9, 12, 12A, 13, 13A, 16, 17, 23, 24, 35, 45, 47, 50, 60, 61, 63, 80, 82, 87, 97, 126, X1, X2, X8, X10, X21, X22 will be subject to diversions and some bus stops changes due to phased road closures for the Pride Parade.

The Diamond 16A, 50 and 50A bus services will also be following the dedicated diversion route.

Travelling by tram

West Midlands Metro will have services running between Wolverhampton Station and Bull Street Station, Birmingham from 08:00-14:30 during the Pride parade due to phased road closures and safety reasons. A full service will run from start of service until 08:00 and thereafter from 14:30.

Full tram service is expected to resume to Edgbaston Village from 14:30.

Travelling by train

Rail services are expected to be running as normal; however, services are likely to be busier than normal as people make their way to Birmingham to celebrate Pride.

Travelling by car

Roads in and around Birmingham are anticipated to be busier than usual because of the event and road closures.

Drivers who are planning on heading into the city are advised to leave their vehicles at home and use the bus, train or tram as an alternative to travel around the city centre. Those who cannot get to the event without a car are encouraged to avoid travelling via Digbeth and Holloway Circus as the areas are likely to be heavily congested with traffic and people.

Furthermore, car parks in the city centre will be at full capacity and the entrance to the Bull Ring car park will be restricted during Saturday due to the local road closures, so please consider using the park and ride facilities.

TfWM Scooters/bikes

Please be aware that the below docking stations in the city centre will be temporarily out of service for the duration of the Birmingham Pride. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

• Moore Street
• Smallbrook Queensway

Road closure:

From 6am on Saturday 24 May to 6am on Monday 26 May, Pershore Road between Sherlock Street and Upper Dean Street will be closed for safe access to the Smithfield Birmingham Pride site.

National Express West Midlands bus services 35, 45 & 47 will be on diversion via Dudley Street, Upper Dean Street, Moat Lane, Bradford Street, Barford Street and Sherlock Street.
