What’s happening?
Work is happening in Dudley to improve the town centre. During these works, the way you travel around the region will be different.
These works will happen in stages to minimise disruption, and will include:
- The Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Metro extension, which will see the first phase delivered to Dudley at the end of 2025.
- A new transport hub
- Redevelopment of the Portersfield area of Dudley town centre
- Road improvements
Level Street, Merry Hill
Construction activity, including in the Brierley Hill and Merry Hill areas, is set to get underway for the second phase of the Black Country Metro extension beginning from Spring 2025. This work is expected to continue throughout 2025 and into 2026. These essential activities are required as part of the delivery for the second phase of the largest Metro extension being delivered anywhere in the UK.
Works will take place in phases, starting with the preliminary construction works at Level Street, Merry Hill. Details of this works are as follows:
From 28 April to 22 June:
- Lane closures will be in place on all the approaches to Level Street Island to accommodate works on the outer ring of the roundabout.
- Pedestrians will need to use the designated crossing point during the works.
From 23 June to 15 August:
- Lane closures will be in place on all the approaches to Level Street Island to accommodate works on the inner ring of the roundabout.
