Wednesbury Tram works

What’s happening?

There will be works to complete the connection of the existing tram line with the new extension to Dudley.

This will mean that there will be changes to services on Sunday 19 January 2025.

From the start of service until 1pm:

  • Trams will operate up to every 12 minutes between Wolverhampton Station and Wednesbury Great Western Street.
  • There will be no services between Wednesbury Great Western Street and Edgbaston Village.

From 1pm until the end of service:

  • A normal service will resume. Trams will operate up to every 12 minutes to all stops.

Metro tickets and passes will be accepted on the following alternative transport options:

National Express bus services:

  • 79 between Wednesbury and West Bromwich.
  • 79A between Wednesbury Parkway and West Bromwich. (Dedicated replacement bus service operating every 30 minutes between Wednesbury Parkway, Wednesbury Bus Station, Black Lake and West Bromwich Bus Station only)
  • 74 between West Bromwich and Birmingham.
  • All routes between Colmore Row and Edgbaston Village.

West Midlands Railway services:

  • Train services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham

Travel tips

You will still be able to get to where you need to go, but consider the following:

Your Metro ticket is accepted. on many alternative bus routes and rail services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham
Plan Ahead. Consider your alternative options using the TfWM Journey Planner and the MyMetro App
For shorter journeys:. Walk, scoot or cycle to your destination especially if you are travelling within town/city centres.
Think twice before driving. Could you get the train or the bus to your destination?
